This original c.1802 legal document details the official release of the body of Jacob, a “negro man slave” owned by Edmund Tucker, to the custody of the Halifax County, VA prison system. Jacob was charged and convicted with “consulting, advising and conspiring to rebel and make an insurrection” in the company of others. We’ve archivally presented the document as a float mount in a walnut burl profile from Furst Bros, Crescent Brands matting, Attach Ez “Invisimount” Mylar encapsulation and TruVue 99% UV filtering acrylic glazing.
