R. R. Meredith Willson (1902 – 1984) was an accomplished American flautist, composer, conductor, musical arranger, bandleader, playwright, and writer. “Till There Was You” is a song written for his 1957 musical The Music Man, and was subsequently covered by The Beatles, Barbara Cook, Anita Bryant, Etta James, Sonny Rollins and others.
