Originally framed here in 2023, this poster was created for the 2005 exhibition, “Speed, Style, and Beauty: Cars from the Ralph Lauren Collection,” at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. It features a Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic Coupe, also known as “La Voiture Noire,” of which only four were ever produced! From S. Augustus Mitchell Jr’s 1867 edition of “Mitchell’s New General Atlas,” we have an original hand colored plate no. 16 depicting the “Plan of Boston.” It also includes a smaller inset map in the bottom right corner which shows the general area around Boston, including its islands and harbors.
