The Studio del Mosaico Della Reverenda Fabbrica di S. Pietro was founded in the mid-1500s, and created over ten thousand square meters of enamel mosaics adorning the interior of St. Peter's Basilica. Tiny colored glass filaments, used for preservation and the creation of new works, are still made on-site in 28,000 colors!
