Benton Spruance (1904 – 1967) was a Philadelphia native and prolific painter, printmaker, and architect. He worked as a long-term faculty member and chair of the Arts Department at Beaver College (now known as Arcadia University) in Glenside, PA, which named its central art building and gallery after him. “Middle Germantown” is a c.1934 signed limited edition stone lithograph depicting the stately mansions of the 1930’s era Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA.
