“Black Friday” Signed Lithograph by Benton Spruance


Benton Spruance (1904-1967) was a Philadelphia native and prolific painter, printmaker, and architect. He worked as a long-term faculty member and chair of the Arts Department at Beaver College (now known as Arcadia University) here in Glenside, PA, which named its central art building after him. “Black Friday” is a signed lithograph showing a gaunt, limp Jesus Christ being pulled from the cross.
